Blade Server HS21 in the Lenovo IBM BladeCentre H

Hi and welcome to my Playhouse and today I want to tell you some plate service today especially the HS 21 that I want to show up there is like two versions of this there is HS 21 and there is the 8 X 21 X M I don't have any of those XM I would really have liked to have one to show you what I have the 8 s 21 without the egg M but that one is also available in two versions and one of them can use the Intel Xeon 5400 series of processes and the other one cannot and I just happen to have both of those so down here is my flight centre and I've just been sleep eating to make sure where everything is so let's have a little look at that these 7 servers are all 8 8 but if we go up here and we open this thing we can see that this and with two that I'll have to show minima we can see this moralism eighty eight fifty three and down here it tells me that this 100 versus eighty eight fifty three and then it says c3d and those last leaders are what the server came with when it was new little over here we have number five that one has an arrow so we're going to have a little bit of a bit of view of that one so we're going to be doing something to that one but if we open that up we can see that this is a 8850 three L 3G and this is another model it means that this server that server was not created equal on the outside of these servers there is nothing to see so let's see if there's anything on the inside first glance they look exactly the same these two this one is missing it cover for a hard drive or otherwise it looks the same from my point of view so I've been looking at this a little bit and I did actually find some difference this one has a couple of LED numbers over here too for some error correcting or stuff like that this one does not have that this one is the one that is able to do the 5400 series this one is not able to do the 5400 series there is a difference there those two Willoughby's I don't know if that is at all of them the host it has a little button down here that one does not have that logically connector in here for putting a top server on I don't know if this is something all of them have or is it just a coincidence that I found that one but this one is not able to use the 5400 series and this one is it's possible to install 16 gigabytes of RAM in this server if you put on a top an extension buy refurbished blade servers you can expand this server to 32 gigabytes of RAM it's not a lot of RAM in this model of server the same thing goes with this one over here that is also not able to use more than 16 gigabytes if you find and get the XM model you'll be able to install 32 gigabytes of RAM it will have eight slots of RAM available it will only have room for one hard drive but that's kind of more RAM to hotronix Megan you have to make that choice also the XM model will is available with two SSD drives instead like one point eight inches SSD drive that you can pop in this is not available on the HS 21 model without the XM the processor Cindy servers you're not really supposed to go over 65 watts in them I have tried it and it will work with processes that are more than 65 watts so it is possible to do that this server over here had an era and on this server there is a Lausanne optic tool built into the server that's a little blue button right there if you press that it will kill you with the arrow on and it's that battery that had an error that's under voltage so I need to exchange that and that battery cr2032 and I kind of buy these batteries all over the local china shop store dollar so they usually have packages like this and I am I buy them there because they die from time to time and well you have to extinct one if you go down and just buy one a good quality brand you will pay a lot of money for this but these cost next to nothing to them let's get one of those in I think this one it's the smallest package only and this coat of that one this piece of plastic it's probably only sold as you can see the number eight plus take the pressure off of the RAM so you can stack the service or something I want to see if this works I do believe that it will have slow these up put them back in oh I've done a number of videos switching out CPU candy we will take the CPUs out by unscrewing the screws here but you have to take the front out a little bit as well the cooler goes out another front here to get more surface area so that's that is how that way it's a massive cooler really good quality these killers were produced back in 2006 2007 that's when they were new they replaced the HS 20-week sir was running with the Intel VP processes 1 & 2 tour and they regularly used up to 130 watts and those suitors normally 80 watts so like 40 watts per call where these comes down to about 12 and a half or 17 and a half watts per call so kind of a savings there so that's the 80s 21 oh we didn't talk about the expansions over here you can put in additional network hubs over here oh hi Scottie adapters or fibre channel adapters on we take voxel this clock is for putting on an extension top on top of this server you can extend it with more memory and I do believe that even as they can't import with a with more memory and more i/o so let's split up put some bargain on the back of the server there's a nice explanation about what everything is how to do a lot of this stuff change the CPU put in expansion ports hot rice open the server and putting an expansion option like it's double talk and it looks like there is the front hot rice as well and here is the system board what everything is on the system board a really nice and good drawing to have very close to the server when you're buy used blade server online working on it there we are both sleeves are back into the leaf center they're blinking very fast right now they're being checked out this one don't be sick and it has no errors now so now the battery is good again later is a fairly cheap there retail price of him are very low because this is a power-hungry beef it uses a fair amount of power even to know and so it's not really for the home user but I have it I play around with it and I unpowered it when I'm not using it what a thing to watch out for is if you want to get an 8 s 21 make sure that it's an 8 8 21 that will do the insult Eon 5400 series otherwise you will have some processors that does not perform as well and the price will probably be just around the same it's really worth it to pay just a little bit more and make sure that it comes within 50 400 series beyond that is really where you get the performance if you have to go with it with the 5300 series of TL they use a lot more power and they are not as good.
